7 months after guiding Borussia Dortmund to a historic Champions League final, head coach Sven and Sebastian have decided to part ways with the club. Their departure opens up opportunities for new faces in the coaching staff, as Dortmund announced the arrival of club legend Lucas and the departure of assistant coach Julian on Thursday.

Joining new head coach Nuri Sahin at the training ground will be Joao Tralhao and Erkut Arslan, who will bring their wealth of experience and fresh ideas to the team. The trio, with their different strengths, are expected to form a strong support network for Sahin and help the club achieve success in the upcoming season.

Speaking about the new coaching staff, sporting director Michael said, "We have successfully assembled a team of three talented individuals in Joao, Erkut, and Lucas. They will bring their respective expertise to the table and provide valuable support to Nuri Sahin. We believe that their combined strengths will contribute to a successful season for the club."

Director of football, Matthias, also expressed his confidence in the new coaching setup, stating, "Through our discussions, we quickly established a high level of trust. With this combination, we have a coaching staff centered around Nuri that is well-equipped to achieve our goals. The three assistant coaches, with their rich experience in different areas, will help us in our quest for success."

Head coach Nuri Sahin expressed his gratitude to Sven and Sebastian, saying, "I would like to thank Sven and Sebastian for their collaboration. Now, I look forward to working with the three professionals whom I deeply respect both personally and professionally. I have previously worked with Joao and Erkut at Antalyaspor. After Sven made the decision to leave Dortmund for the new season, Lucas was my first choice. I have a special connection with him, and I would have liked to continue working with Sven."

As for Julian and Sebastian, they will no longer be part of the coaching staff. Julian's departure from the club is due to personal reasons and his desire to further his coaching career. Matthias emphasized their contributions, saying, "We are very grateful for the tremendous effort, commitment, and excellent collaboration shown by Julian and Sebastian. Their contributions helped us reach the Champions League final in the previous season."
